In less than three years, the Columbia Fireflies are on the verge of surpassing the 1,000,000 mark in attendance and to help celebrate the milestone, the team is giving one lucky fan a chance to win $1,000,000.
The fans who come to Friday's game with Charleston will be giving a raffle ticket and all the tickets will be placed in a huge bowl and during the course o the game, three lucky winners will have their tickets drawn with one grand prize winner and that person will get a chance to win $1,000,000 after the game.
It's almost impossible to determine which fan will be the actual one millionth fan to walk into Segra Park. But Fireflies Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations Abby Naas says the contest is a way to get everyone involved with an equal chance at the seven-figure prize.
"Everyone who comes to the game will receive a raffle ticket which they will drop into a giant drum," Naas said.
"In the third inning, we'll pick one winner and that person will have the opportunity to win that one million dollars. And then in the sixth inning, we'll pick a second winner and that person will get a secondary prize. In the ninth inning, we'll pick a third winner and that person will also get a prize. So there will be multiple winners that night but one person will have a chance at the million."
Naas said the person who will go for the million will be on the field after the game, 35 envelopes will be on the field and if that person can match five envelopes, the million is there's.
