As the preseason All-America teams start rolling out, expect Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne to be partnered up on the first team on most occasions.
The Clemson quarterback and running back were both named to the Sporting News preseason All-American first team Wednesday.
A rising sophomore, Lawrence threw for 3,280 yards, 30 touchdowns and just four interceptions in a season that saw him split time with Kelly Bryant in the first four games. He led the country with 24 rushing touchdowns.and he set single-season school records in 2018 in rushing yards (1,658), yards per carry (8.1), rushing touchdowns (24), total touchdowns (26) and points scored (156).
The other Tiger player to be named to the first team was linebacker Isaiah Simmons who led the team with 97 tackles in 2018.
