USC defensive lineman Shameik Blackshear ended 2018 with an announcement on Twitter that he is leaving the Gamecock program.

Blackshear, who will graduate in May, will have one year of eligibility remaining and with a degree in hand, he could play immediately as a graduate transfer and not sit out a year.

A standout from Bluffton High School near Hilton Head Island, Blackshear was mostly a reserve but did start the Akron and Virginia games.

He played in all 13 games this year, registering a sack and 27 total tackles.
