Zion Williamson Wins The Naismith Trophy And Is The National Player Of The Year

ATLANTA — Zion Williamson adds a big award to his trophy case. 

The Spartanburg Day product won the Naismith Trophy and is the national player of the year. He is becomes the third freshman to win this award joining Kevin Durant (Texas) and Anthony Davis (Kentucky). The frosh is the 8th Duke Blue Devil to win the award as well.

Dalzell native and Crestwood product Ja Mortant of Murray State, Tennessee's Grant Williams and Rui Hachimura of Gonzaga were the other finalists.

Zion also earned ACC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors becoming the third player to ever sweep those conference awards.

In his first season in college basketball Zion posted 21 ppg, 1.85 bpg, 2.2 spg and 8.8 rpg which all ranked top five in the ACC.

No doubt he's headed to that number one spot in the NBA Draft after the All-ACC forward led the Blue Devils to the Elite 8
