CHAPIN, S.C. — Traffic on Interstate 26 is moving again after a crash between a tractor trailer and a truck blocked traffic Tuesday afternoon.
The collision was in the westbound lanes at the 94 mile marker, which is between the Peak exit and the Columbia Avenue exit for Chapin. State troopers say two people had to be airlifted from the scene and taken to Prisma Health Richland in Columbia.
The circumstances leading up to the crash haven't been released.
Officers say the interstate has reopened and is clear for normal traffic flow.
Traffic cameras showed a backup that lasted a few miles while emergency crews responded to the area.
