LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — The first phase of an Intersection Improvement project by South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) begins Monday, Oct. 19, when the intersection of Fish Hatchery Road and Busbee Road in Lexington County transitions to an all-way stop. This will be the first step of construction of a traffic circle that should create a safer intersection for motorists.
SCDOT estimates that all construction should be complete by late summer 2021. During that time, the intersection near Gaston will remain an all-way stop.
This project in Lexington County is funded by the new state gas tax. The new gas tax supports SCDOT’s 10-Year Plan to improve the quality of South Carolina’s roads and bridges after 30 years of deferred maintenance due to lack of funding.
