RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — Eastbound drivers near the border between Richland and Kershaw counties have reopened after a blockage with an unusual cause.

Authorities with Columbia-Richland Fire said they along with South Carolina Highway Patrol were on the scene of a disabled flatbed truck that was transporting bees near mile marker 83.

Traffic cameras in the area showed the trailer partly off the roadway but the cab was still in the lane. Authorities said first responders were working carefully to find a way to clear the vehicle without upsetting the bees it was carrying.

By about 6:30 p.m., the lanes had cleared No additional details are available on how the incident occurred.
