Victim identified in crash involving motorcycle, tractor-trailer in Kershaw County

The man who died in a motorcycle accident in Kershaw County has been identified as Joshua Valentine. The crash involved a tractor-trailer and is under investigation.

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — The Kershaw County Coroner's Office has identified a man who died in an early morning motorcycle accident in Kershaw County on Thursday.

Coroner David West said the accident happened around 9:40 a.m. in the area of Fort Jackson Road and Hunt Road near Lugoff.

Based on preliminary details released by the coroner's officer, the motorcyclist, identified as 23-year-old Joshua Valentine of the Bethune area, was headed to work on his motorcycle when he was involved in a crash involving a tractor-trailer. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Kershaw County Coroner's Office.
