RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) is investigating an incident that occurred around 6:50 p.m. July 3 that left one person dead and another injured near Lake Murray.
SCHP Lance Corporal Tyler Tidwell reports the collision between a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle and a 2022 GMC Sierra pickup truck happened Sunday evening on US-76 near Shadowood Drive in Irmo.
The GMC Sierra, with a driver and two passengers, was turning left from Shadowood on to US-76 west when it collided with the motorcycle that was traveling east.
The motorcycle driver and passenger were both transported to Prisma Health Richland with injuries. The motorcycle driver later died.
No one in the truck was injured.
SCHP continues to investigate this incident.
