South Carolina Highway Patrol investigating hit-and-run in northern Richland County

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP) are seeking information concerning a fatal hit-and-run collision that occurred in the early morning of Dec. 5, 2021.

According to SCHP, around 2:17 a.m., an unknown vehicle traveling north on Fairfield Road in northern Richland County struck a pedestrian. The person was fatally injured as a result of the collision and the suspect vehicle left the scene heading toward Crane Church Road.

A blurry image of the suspect vehicle was captured on surveillance video. SCHP investigators believe the suspect vehicle would have had damage to the right front headlight and a missing passenger-side mirror. 

The vehicle may be a 2002 to 2009 Chevrolet Trailblazer, 2002 to 2009 GMC Envoy, 2002 to 2004 Oldsmobile Bravada, 2002 to 2009 Buick Rainier, or a 2003 to 2007 Chevrolet SSR.
