COLUMBIA, S.C. — After a dreary Sunday to end the weekend, the chance for rain has left but the clouds are here to stay for the first day of the work week.

The wedge is in place today with northeasterly surface winds combined with the cloud cover keeping temperatures below normal for the first time in over a week. High temperatures are expected in the upper 60s north to low 70s south.

This setup will start to erode later today and some peaks of sunshine are possible late in the afternoon. Skies will become partly cloudy overnight with lows dropping into the mid to upper 50s.

More sunshine on Tuesday will help increase temperatures back above normal and near 80 degrees.

High temperatures will be similar both Wednesday and Thursday ahead of our next cold front and tropical moisture from Zeta.

Showers and a few storms are possible late Wednesday through early Friday as the system moves through. Behind it, temperatures will drop significantly.

Halloween is looking chilly with lows in the 40s and high temperatures in the low to mid 60s.
