Some Midlands school districts announce delays due to weather

There is a chance of some road hazards in parts of the Midlands Friday morning.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — School districts are altering plans due to the threat of possible wintry weather Thursday night and Friday morning.

The central South Carolina region is expected to get some light snow late Thursday afternoon into Thursday night, but no significant accumulation is expected. However, there is a chance that with freezing temperatures overnight, there could be a threat of black ice on the roadways. 

Due to that potential, here's what school systems are altering schedules (list will be updated):

Bamberg School District Two: Teachers and staff report at 9:45 a.m. The school will operate on a two hour delay. 

Ben Lippen School: Teachers and staff are on a one hour delay for Friday. Morning care will start at 8:15 a.m. for lower school students. 

Calhoun County Schools: Teachers and staff will report to school at 9 a.m.; students report at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Clarendon School District 1: Clarendon School District 1 will operate on a two hour delay on Friday.

Clarendon School District 2: Clarendon School District 2 will operate on a two hour delay on Friday.

Clarendon School District 3: Clarendon School District 3 will operate on a two hour delay on Friday.

Fairfield County School District: Will operate on a two hour delay on Friday. Buses will run two hours later than the regular route time.

Felton Laboratory Charter School:  The school will operate on a two hour delay. 

Laurence Manning Academy: Laurence Manning Academy will operate on a two hour delay on Friday.

Lee County School District: Lee County Schools will operate on a two hour delay on Friday. 

Newberry County Schools: Newberry County schools will be on a two hour delay on Friday.

Buses will run two hours later than the regular route time with schools and offices beginning two hours later than usual.

Orangeburg County Schools: Orangeburg County Schools will be on a two hour delay

Williamsburg County School District: The district will operate on a 2-hour delay for buses and students on Friday, and a 1.5- hour delay for staff due to anticipated inclement weather in the area. All after-school programs are canceled for today and tomorrow.
