COLUMBIA, S.C. — The summertime weather we had over the weekend will continue for much of the work week, with the added chance of some afternoon showers and storms.
High temperatures Monday will climb into the low to mid 90s. The high temperatures combined with dew points in the 70s will cause the heat index to rise into the triple digits.
A few afternoon showers and storms are also possible, especially east of Columbia, as a weak front moves into the Southeast.
The front will stall in our area and keep the chance for isolated pop up storms in the forecast through midweek.
Temperatures over the week will remain fairly consistent. Mornings will be in the low to mid 70s with high temperatures in the low to mid 90s.
Combined with continued humid conditions, the heat index for most days this week will reach 100 degrees.
Looking ahead to the end of the week and next weekend, an approaching front could bring a better chance for scattered storms across the Midlands.
