COLUMBIA, S.C. — The weather this past weekend was perfect for this time of the year! A wind out of the north and east kept dewpoints low and highs only got into the upper 80s for most. As we look towards this upcoming week, we have more nice weather Monday before the heat and humidity returns to the Midlands.

Monday will have a very similar look to the past few days. Dewpoints look to be in the 50s which will keep things comfortable even as highs get close to 90 degrees in the afternoon which is only slightly above normal for this time of the year.

Meanwhile, out in the Atlantic Ocean Tropical Storm Alex will continue to head out to sea. As of Sunday evening, the storm was a strong tropical storm with winds sustained at 65 mph. From here, the storm is expected to weaken somewhat as it goes out to sea. Other than that, there is nothing we are actively tracking in the tropics which is good news!

Looking towards next week, a cold front looks to stall just to our north on Wednesday. Storms can be expected back into the forecast along with hot temperatures in the middle 90s lasting through the end of the week. We do cool down a little bit towards next weekend but don't expect any real relief in the forecast over the next 7 days.
