Driver dead in fiery collision in Newberry County

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. — One person has died as a result of a single fatal collision on January 23. 

According to South Carolina Highway Patrol Master Trooper Brandon Bolt ,  the collision happened on January 23 around 9:40 p.m. on Kiblers Bridge Road near South Carolina Highway 773 in Newberry County. 

The collision involved one person, who is now deceased. The name has not been released. 

The driver was driving a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck and was wearing a seat belt.

According to SCHP, the driver was traveling West on Kiblers Road when they traveled off the right side of the road, over corrected, and then traveled off to the right again. They stuck a tree, then vehicle overturned and caught fire. 

The collision remains under investigation  by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
