CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - The former director of South Carolina's health agency is leaving her new position with the South Carolina Ports Authority.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports Catherine Templeton is resigning immediately from her post as senior vice president of legal, external affairs and human resources with the authority.

An agency statement says Templeton concluded the position, which she started last month, doesn't meet her career goals.

Templeton was one of Gov. Nikki Haley's first Cabinet selections when she became director of the state labor department after Haley's 2010 election.

The Mount Pleasant attorney later headed up the Department of Health and Environmental Control. She left that post in January, saying she had promised the governor four years of service and wanted to move on to other things.
