USC Honors Don Fowler's 50 Years of Teaching

Fowler is the former Chairman of both the Democratic National Committee and the South Carolina Democratic Party.

COLUMIBA, S.C. (AP) - The former chairman of the Democratic National Committee and former chairman of South Carolina's Democratic Party is being honored for 50 years of teaching.

Don Fowler is scheduled to be honored Thursday at the University of South Carolina for educating students through his courses on politics and the mass media since 1964. Fowler brings the nation's prominent political leaders and journalists into his classrooms.

To honor Fowler, Kathleen Hall Jamieson is speaking at the Hollings Library at 6 p.m. Her lecture is titled "Implications of the Attack on Fact in Politics," and is free and open to the public.

Jamieson is a professor at the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania and co-founder of FactCheck.org.
