Man touched girl inappropriately at Walmart in northeast Richland County, deputies say

The incident happened at the Walmart on Killian Road.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff's Department is asking the public for help in identifying a man wanted on charges of third degree assault and battery.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Jan. 27, 2020, at the Walmart on Killian Road in northeast Richland County. A teenager shopping in the cosmetic section says she was approached by a man who said he needed help looking for something for a female relative.

The 16-year-old told investigators that the man asked about a variety of products with the intent of lengthening the conversation.

When the teen became uncomfortable and intended to leave, the man leaned in to give her a hug. As he let go, he touched her rear end.

The teen immediately notified store security and deputies were called to the location.
