The Columbia Fire department says they were able to get the child out of the car first, before using extrication tools to rescue the woman.

Both the woman and child were then brought up to the road in baskets before being taken to the hospital.

By 8 a.m., both people had been transported and the road reopened.

We do not know the exact conditions of the adult and child, but troopers say they are expected to be ok.
