Fire destroys Blythewood home

BLYTHEWOOD, S.C. — A home in Blythewood destroyed after fire tore through the property on Tuesday afternoon

Columbia-Richland Fire Department officials said crews responded to the home off of Howell Road at around 4 p.m. Heavy fire was found coming from the back of the property and quickly spread into the attic.

Firefighters established a water supply and began suppression efforts. The home was reportedly vacant at the time of the fire. There were no injuries.

The fire was brought under control and extinguished. 

The Richland County Fire Marshal’s Office will be looking into what caused it.
