Sumter, SC (WLTX) - The Sumter County Coroner's office confirms a longtime local doctor passed away unexpectedly Tuesday.
Coroner Robbie Baker says Dr. Carl Whetsell, 62, a pediatrician at Sumter Pediatrics, was found dead at his home around 3:30 p.m.
Baker says he went home from work after complaining about not feeling well. A neighbor later discovered his body.
It's believed his death is from natural causes, but an autopsy will be conducted Wednesday.
