Hundreds of people have called the Austin Police Department to report suspicious packages after two violent explosions Monday, March 12. Officials believe the two March 12 explosions are linked to a March 2 explosion and are telling Austin residents to not open unknown packages.

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley confirmed on Twitter Tuesday morning that Austinites listened to the warning. He said that the police department received over 150 calls about suspicious packages, as of 5 a.m. March 13. The Austin Police Department said officers will respond to any suspicious package call. Austin police said a teenage boy died and a woman in her 40s was injured after bringing a package inside of their home on Oldfort Hill Drive just before 6:45 a.m. March 12. Hours later, a 75-year-old Hispanic woman was critically injured after she picked up a package on her front porch.

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley said he believes Monday's two explosions are linked to the package explosion that killed Anthony Stephan House, 39, in Northeast Austin on March 2.

After finding similarities between the cases, Chief Brian Manley said it is important for the Austin community to be vigilant and not handle unknown packages left on their front doorstep. Manley said it's best to call 911 before manipulating any package that seems suspicious.
