COLUMBIA, S.C. — Cassidy Bayer was born and raised in the suburbs of DC in Alexandria VA, and joined the WLTX News19 team in October of 2023.

Bayer is a multi-skilled Journalist in Columbia, SC at WLTX and covers a range of topics as a general assignment reporter. However, she enjoys covering education, agriculture, and any feel good stories.

After missing the 2016 US Olympic swim team by one spot, Bayer attended UC Berkeley for her first two and a half years of undergrad where she was an All-American swimmer before transferring to the University Of Tennessee to continue her sport.

Following graduation from Tennessee with a Bachelors in Communications and Journalism, she interned at the local TEGNA station–WBIR–where she fell in love with broadcast television.

Known for her loud yet bubbly personality, Bayer has a passion advocating for mental health awareness after openly admitting to struggling with an eating disorder through college. She enjoys cooking, gardening, and finding ways to move her body in her free time.

Although she considers herself a DC girl at heart, she loves learning about her new home in Columbia and looks forward to building relationships with others while doing what she loves.
