J.R. Berry

It seems that J.R. Berry was destined to become a television anchorman.

J.R. Berry is an anchor at WLTX-TV in Columbia, SC, anchoring the station's evening newscasts.

Berry has called WLTX-TV home since May of 1991.

The Sumter native has been recognized for his work with 3 Emmy awards and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award. He has also been honored by the Associated Press for Investigative Reporting, Spot News, and Documentary work.

From 1997 until September 2002, J. R. anchored News 19's Morning and Noon News programs. He then moved to the evenings and now anchors News 19 at 6, 7 and 11.

J.R. is very involved in the community and has received numerous awards and citations for his community service.

J.R has two children, Bobby and Robin and a stepson, Chase Boan. He has 10 grandchildren and a dog named Bailey.

J.R. and his wife Rachelle are huge sports fans and love to cheer on the South Carolina Gamecocks.

In his spare time, you can usually find J. R. on the golf course.
