Singer Joe Cocker Dead at 70

British singer Joe Cocker, winner of both a Grammy and Oscar, has died at the age of 70.

British singer Joe Cocker, who rocketed to the top of the charts for the first time with his rendition of the Beatles song "A Little Help From My Friends," has died at the age of 70.

According to reports, Cocker's agent says he died after battling cancer.

He recorded 24 albums throughout his career, appeared on stage at Woodstock in 1969, and charted quite a few number one hits, including his iconic cover of the Beatles hit near the end of 1968.

In addition, Cocker's U.S. chart-topping songs "Up Where We Belong" (Officer And A Gentleman, 1982) "You Are So Beautiful" (1975,) and his first American number one hit: "The Letter."

Cocker broke a final record in Europe over the last year, filling arenas across Europe, and having a number one selling album in Germany, "Fire It Up," which he recorded and released in 2012.
