Blythewood woman becomes first African American Mrs. South Carolina America

Felicia Clark is the first African American woman to be crowned Mrs. South Carolina America

COLUMBIA, S.C. — On June 12, 2021 Felicia Clark stepped on the stage and into the history books when she was crowned the first African American woman to win the title of Mrs. South Carolina America.

She competed in the pageant as Mrs. Columbia America and says the moment she realized that she won, was like "a dream come true."  This is the second time Clark has competed; in 2016, she came in 4th place in the pageant.

She says that she remained focused on winning and preparing for her next chance to wear the crown.

The Benedict College and Clemson University graduate has travelled the globe but she didn't start competing in pageants until she was in college.  Clark and her husband have a daughter, who at 2 years old is already competing in pageants and winning.  Clark says "she's excited to see her daughter's journey in the pageant world."

Clark is an administrative assistant for Fort Jackson’s Child and Youth Service Center and is married to Kendrick Clark. She is considered a "very strong contender at the 2021 Mrs. America Pageant in Las Vegas Nevada” according to Frederick Charles Galle III, Executive Director of the Mrs. America NC/SC Pageant. The winner of Mrs. America goes on to compete at the Mrs. World Pageant Pageant, being held in Sri Lanka next year.
