Do you dare? Texas DQ locations offering Carolina Reaper Taco

They'll be available while supplies last.

SAN ANTONIO — Any idea if Dairy Queen Blizzards taste sweeter after your mouth has been set on fire? Texas customers will soon be able to find out for themselves.

The fast-food favorite has announced the Carolina Reaper Taco, a fiery addition to its menu that will only be available at Lone State State locations while supplies last. Those who dare taste it will experience a taco combining "the intense heat of a thousand Texas summers with a sizzling lightning bolt from a West Texas storm" before finishing "with the kick of a wild mustang to create the spicy deliciousness of the Carolina Reaper Taco."

The meal comes served in a hard corn shell with Carolina Reaper-infused Monterey Jack cheese, ground beef, lettuce, tomatoes and a cilantro-lime sauce.

Whether the Carolina Reaper Taco lives up to its namesake remains to be seen, but the name itself is enough to strike fear in the heart (and gullet). One of the hottest peppers in the world, it measures in at 1.64 million Scoville Heat Units (for comparison, your run-of-the-mill jalapeño typically comes in somewhere between 2,000 and 8,000 Scoville Heat Units).

Those with the DQ Texas mobile app will be able to receive a free small Blizzard to go with their order of three Carolina Reaper Tacos for a limited time. We have a hunch you'll need that cool, sweet treat.
