Here's a 106-year-old DC woman's secret to living a long life

Virginia Johnson has a simple secret to her longevity.

WASHINGTON — We want to send a big shoutout to a woman in our community. Virginia Johnson just celebrated her 106th birthday!

There was a beautiful day of song and celebration at the Carroll Manor Community Room in Northeast D.C. Members of her church, including her pastor, were on hand to help with the big party.

Johnson is a longtime D.C. resident and entrepreneur so it's no surprise that she is beloved by her community. At 106 years young, she says she's still going strong.

"I feel great. No aches, no pains. I feel good," she told WUSA9.

So what's her secret for living a long and healthy life? Her answer was simple.

"Love. L-O-V-E is my secret in life," she said. "I feel truly blessed to be 106. I know I'm a blessed person."

All of us here at WUSA9 wish Virginia Johnson a very happy birthday!
