Manufacturing expands, brings new jobs to South Carolina

Over 1,000 total new positions announced by three companies

COLUMBIA, S.C. — In the past week, the South Carolina Commerce Department has announced manufacturing plans that are bringing new jobs to the state. Here is a roundup of what's coming to South Carolina and how to apply for jobs.

APEX Mattress Manufacturing is investing $1.9 million in a new mattress manufacturing operation in Colleton County. The company that produces mattresses for retail and e-commerce businesses expects to create 50 new jobs when it goes operational in January 2022. Generac Power Systems will add 200,000 square feet to it's facility in Trenton, increasing the existing space by 50% and creating room for warehousing of raw materials and storage of finished goods. The Edgefield County expansion, at 30 Generac Way (formerly Industrial Park Blvd), is expected to create 750 jobs. Generac will manufacture and distribute home standby generators and associated energy technologies at the site. Expansion is scheduled for completion by the third quarter of 2022. Shaw Industries Group will be expanding operations in Aiken County. The company is investing approximately $400 million to expand the manufacturing facility to create the fiber used in residential carpets, creating 300 new jobs.
