Early donations now accepted for Midlands Gives event, supporting non-profits like Galatians 6:2 and its mission to serve the underserved

Galatians 6:2 in Elgin is looking to raise money to stock their food pantry

COLUMBIA, S.C. — With the annual Midlands Gives event scheduled for Tuesday, organizers are now accepting early donations to assist non-profit organizations in the area.

One of those non-profits looking for donations is Galatians 6:2

One of Galatians 6:2's biggest projects is their Blessing Store, where clothes offer the potential to change someone's life, and food on shelves feeds hungry families.

April Frazier established Galatians 6:2 in 2019, driven by a need to serve underserved communities.

"Personally I felt like I was being chosen and led to start this organization," Frazier said. "There are a lot of organizations in areas where people have access to the bus, and things of that nature, so for me with Galatians 6:2 my primary focus was taking resources to the unsheltered homeless that could not get to the resources,".

Since its inception, Galatians 6:2 has expanded its outreach, serving nearly 500 people through various programs, including the Blessing Store.

"If they are one of our clients or they are someone in need, they will come here and get what they need for free," Frazier said. "The public is welcome to come here to shop for the thrift store, and every dime that we make for the thrift store goes to purchase food for our food pantry."

In addition to the Blessing Store and food pantry, Frazier oversees outreach efforts to the unsheltered homeless and a veteran-to-veteran program that provides household goods.

"At the end of the day, you have to genuinely just want to help people, and, personally, that's where I'm at," Frazier said.

The Blessing Store is at 879 White Pond Rd C, Elgin.
