CHAPIN, S.C. — A restaurant and staple of one South Carolina community known for its broasted fried chicken, hamburgers and ice cream treats is closing its doors after nearly two decades.

The Zesto location in Chapin announced through Facebook early Friday morning that it would be open for one final lunch crowd and then close permanently after 18 years.

"We will genuinely miss some of the best customers imaginable and we treasure the relationships we have made," the restaurant posted to its Facebook page. "Chapin has been so good to us and we are so blessed to have been a part of this community for almost 2 decades!!"

In a follow-up post, the restaurant addressed several questions about the closure.

"It's just time for me to have a normal life," the post said.

The statement also cited food costs and retaining employees, describing them as the "same struggles as all mom and pops."

"Times are a changing," the post concluded.

Since the announcement, hundreds of regulars, organizations and fellow businesses have left well-wishes on the restaurant's page.
