A South Carolina man convicted of murdering an Augusta woman has been sentenced to death.

(Augusta, Georgia-AP) -- A South Carolina man convicted of murdering an Augusta woman has been sentenced to death. Reinaldo Rivera of North Augusta showed no emotion Monday when the Superior Court jury in Richmond County, Georgia, returned its verdict after more than eight hours of deliberation. Rivera had previously asked jurors to sentence him to death during the sentencing portion of his trial. He said during the trial if given the chance, he would kill again. The jury convicted Rivera on Friday of 14 counts in the fatal attack on Fort Gordon soldier Sergeant Marni Glista and an assault on Chrisilee Barton. Rivera also is accused in the 1999 slayings of two 17-year-old Aiken County women, Melissa Dingess and Tiffaney Wilson.
