22-year-old Pinewood woman charged with attempted murder after shooting in Sumter County Sunday morning

Victim airlifted to Columbia hospital in stable condition

SUMTER, S.C. — A 22-year-old female suspect has been arrested after a shooting early Sunday morning in Sumter County.

Deputies with the Sumter County Sheriff's Office responded to a call of shots fired around 1 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 11, near Ball Park Road in the Pinewood community. Once at the scene, deputies located a man who had been shot.

Before being airlifted to Prisma Health Richland hospital in Columbia, the wounded man was able to identify the person who shot him as Iszarah Rockingham-Barnett, of West Avenue South in Pinewood.

Deputies were able to locate and apprehend Rockingham-Barnett and transport her to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office Detention Center. She has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The victim was last listed in stable condition at the hospital. Bond was denied for Rockingham-Barnett.

The investigation is ongoing.
