SLED investigation nabs 3 former Chesterfield County Sheriff's deputies for misconduct, conspiracy

The three allegedly reported five 'hoax' emergency cases within four county municipalities

CHESTERFIELD, S.C. — Agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) have arrested and charged three now-former Chesterfield County Sheriff's deputies with misconduct in office, criminal conspiracy, and aggravated breach of peace for their actions while on duty.

The Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office requested the SLED investigation.

Justin Tyler Reichard, 28, Darien Myles Roseau, 25, and Killian Daniel Loflin, 26, were charged on Monday, Feb. 12, and booked at the Chesterfield County Detention Center.

According to the arrest warrants, on Feb. 4, 2024, First Sgt. Reichard, Sgt. Roseau and Deputy Loflin began calling in false reports of the location of a "dead body" to convenience stores and local law enforcement agencies in Cheraw, Chesterfield, McBee and Pageland. Five hoax calls resulted in emergency responses by local law enforcement and first responders.

The 12th Circuit Solicitor's Office will prosecute the case.
