Attempted bank robbery in Edgefield County leads to modified lockdowns at Saluda County schools

Sheriff Josh Price said he sent deputies to the area. The lockdown lasted only about an hour.

SALUDA COUNTY, S.C. — Schools in Saluda County were placed on a "modified lockdown" on Thursday following a suspected crime in a nearby county, the sheriff's office says.

Saluda County Sheriff Josh Price said all Saluda County schools were locked down following a possible attempted bank robbery in Edgefield County. Price said the lockdown was standard policy and a precaution taken due to the suspect's vehicle traveling on Hwy. 121 toward Saluda.

Price said he sent deputies to the area but that the lockdown lasted only about an hour.
