Charleston restaurant employee shoots colleague in workplace dispute, police say

Authorities said the victim's injuries were not considered life-threatening

CHARLESTON, S.C. — Authorities say a dispute between employees at a Charleston restaurant ended in gunfire on Friday.

Charleston Police said the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the California Dreaming restaurant at 1 Ashley Point Dr. in the West Ashley area. According to police, an altercation between co-workers in the kitchen of the restaurant led to one employee shooting the other. The victim was taken to the Medical University of South Carolina with injuries that police said weren't life-threatening.

Police said patrons were in the restaurant at the time, but none were hurt. The restaurant closed for the remainder of the night as the investigation continued. The department said no arrests were made at the time.
