FAIRFIELD COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say one person is dead following a Thursday night shooting in Fairfield County.
According to a statement from the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened just before midnight on Comet Lane in the area of Jackson Creek Road. Investigators believe an unidentified male suspect approached a home and fired multiple times into the front door, killing someone who was inside.
Surveillance video showed the suspect approaching the front door with a piece of clothing wrapped around his face. The sheriff's office said the investigation is in the early stages, but at this point, investigators do not believe this was a random attack.
