Two sketches released in search for assault suspects following possible case of road rage in Lexington County

Deputies noted that the victim's hair appeared messy as if it had been pulled and said that a chunk of hair that matched hers was lying in the roadway.

LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — Lexington County deputies are searching for two people accused of what deputies described as a possible road rage attack earlier in the month.

The Lexington County Sheriff's Department released sketches of a man and woman based on information provided by a woman lying in the middle of the road near the intersection of Boiling Springs and Bluefield roads.

According to an incident report filed by the arriving deputies, the victim told deputies she was driving carefully on Bluefield Road on March 3 when someone in a black SUV, possibly a Chevrolet Tahoe or Suburban, pulled up close and began tailgating her while "exhibiting signs of road rage." The victim told deputies she pulled over near a stop sign and got out of her vehicle to ask them what the issue was and to request they stop tailgating her.

The victim said in the report that a man and a woman in their 20s got out of the SUV and began assaulting her. The victim stated that the two kicked her, punched her and pulled her hair. Deputies noted that the victim's hair appeared messy as if it had been pulled and said that a chunk of hair that matched hers was lying in the roadway. When the victim removed gauze from her face, the deputy noted swelling and bruising around her eye.

The victim told police that she intended to press charges if deputies could identify the attackers. She said the man had brown eyes and a short beard with a mustache that didn't connect to the beard. She said the woman had bluish-green or hazel eyes and long, wavy hair.

On Thursday, the sheriff's department released two sketches of the alleged attackers and urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or Detective Kinder at 803-785-2533.
