ROCK HILL, S.C. — The Rock Hill Police Department located two suspects after a 15-year-old was shot Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to Laurel Street at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, officers found the teen with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was taken to the hospital to be treated.
While investigating the incident, officers learned the shooting happened in the street and that the alleged suspects were in a black sedan that fled the scene. The vehicle fit the description of a black Hyundai police said was reported stolen earlier this week.
While still in the area, police located a vehicle that matched the description and attempted to approach the vehicle, but it sped off from the area and the driver was able to get away near Dave Lyle Blvd. near Anderson Rd.
Later, officers were able to locate the vehicle which was abandoned on Keiger Street. That is when officers noticed individuals behind apartments on Keiger Street. When the officers tried to approach the individuals, they fled on foot.
After Rock Hill Police K9 officers and York County Sheriff's deputies and K9 deputies arrived to the area, they were able to locate and arrest two 15-year-old juveniles.
The juvenile who is being accused of driving the vehicle was charged with criminal conspiracy, receiving/possession of stolen goods ($2,000-10,000), and failure to stop for blue lights.
The second juvenile who authorities said was responsible for the shooting was charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm during a crime of violence, possession of a firearm by a person under 18, and criminal conspiracy.
Both were transported to DJJ in Columbia.
