Shooting at overnight gathering in Orangeburg County leaves one dead, another wounded

ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — One person is dead and another wounded following an early morning shooting that occurred at a gathering outside Santee on Saturday.

According to preliminary information from the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened just before 1:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Antioch Road, about two miles west of Santee. Many details surrounding the incident are still under investigation, but the sheriff's office confirmed two male victims were shot, and one of them died. So far, investigators believe the shooting was an isolated incident.

Authorities haven't yet made any arrests, but the sheriff's office said they are following several leads in the case. The sheriff's office said anyone who may have information about the shooting can call the Orangeburg County Communications Center at 803-534-3550.
