SLED investigation underway at South Carolina State University

ORANGEBURG, S.C. — State agents have been requested to investigate a shooting involving an officer at South Carolina State University.

University officials said Friday that state agents with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) are handling an investigation involving campus police. A university spokesperson deferred to SLED for additional information but said the campus was not on lockdown.

on Friday afternoon, a SLED spokesperson said it was requested to investigate the shooting but did not confirm additional details regarding what parties were involved in the incident.

As of 6 p.m. on Saturday, SLED hadn't provided any additional information regarding the incident, including whether there had been any arrests or if anyone was wounded. An agency spokesperson said the investigation was "active and ongoing."
