SWANSEA, S.C. — Three teen boys have been charged in an armed robbery and shooting that happened in the Swansea area on Wednesday.
Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said that investigators believe one of the teens stole a gun from a car at a gas station on Edmund Highway. An incident report states one of the victims took pictures of the offenders, who allegedly responded by threatening to shoot him with the stolen gun.
He said the teens allegedly went to a home off Redmond Mill Road and shot at a vehicle with three people in it after an argument. Another incident report states the victims went to confront the mother of a juvenile they accused of firing at their house previously, causing damage. The report continues that, after the shooting, the victims drove away toward Swansea High School and called 911. No one was wounded, and none of the gunfire damaged the car, the report states.
The sheriff said the three teens ran from the scene after the shooting, and deputies eventually caught them.
The sheriff's department said all three teens were charged with assault and battery in the first degree and one count of pointing and presenting a firearm. One teen is also charged with a count of armed robbery and another of possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
The sheriff's department didn't release the teens' names because they are under 18. All three were taken into the custody of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
The sheriff's department said it is still investigating what happened on Wednesday night, and more charges may follow.
