Columbia, SC (WLTX) - Garabaldi Cafe in Columbia is closed--at least for now.
Jeff Balish with the Dining Group South, the company that owns the restaurant, confirmed that Five Points the dining spot has temporarily shut its doors.
Balish says the lease for the building is coming due, and that the company is looking to buy a building. They hope to reopen later in a different location.
Employees who worked at the restaurant were offered a severance package. The company also owns Cola's in Columbia, and some employees are going to work there in a few months when that restaurant begins serving lunch.
Balish says people with a gift certificate to Garabaldi can use it at Cola's, and that some menu items from Garibaldi will be brought over to Cola's.
