Holtz Meets One More Time With Fans

Lou Holtz turned his golf cart slightly off course after USC's Thursday night practice. Instead of heading straight for his office, he stopped by to talk with some of the Gamecock faithful who gathered to wish him well.

(Columbia) - Lou Holtz turned his golf cart slightly off course after USC's Thursday night practice. Instead of heading straight for his office, he stopped by to talk with some of the Gamecock faithful who gathered to wish him well.They screamed, "Lou," and the coach acknowledged the cheers.Holtz breifly addressed a small but spirited crowd of USC fans before leaving Williams-Brice Stadium Thursday night, telling them, "We're going to play well," in regards to the upcoming game with Clemson.Reports had already come that Holtz had told his players that he would be retiring, but he told the fans he would speak with some players again after practice. Just before driving away from the complex, Holtz told News19 that he was going home to watch more film. The legendary coach is expected to formally announce his retirement after the Gamecocks take on the Tigers Saturday in Clemson.
