Columbia, SC (WLTX) - — Whether it's being used for making guns or making blueprints, 3D printing is revolutionizing the way people print.
But how does the process work?
And how long does it usually take?
John Carrington, who is the CEO at 3D Printing company ZVerse in Columbia, says the process is quite simple.
“How a 3d printer works is you take a digital file, which is designed in 3d and it sends it to a 3d printer which will then build that part layer by layer.” Carrington said.
They are multiple types of 3D Printers, including ones that deal with titanium, and in the case of guns, different types of plastic.
But rather than just building blueprints or just building guns, Carrington feels 3D Printing will be used in different ways.
“You’ll begin to see parts in your car that will have geometry that was not achievable before," Carrington said. "But the big difference that I think you will see will be in the medical industry, you’re going to see better care because they’re will be medical instruments that will be able to be customized to patience and that’s just the start of it.”
