MARLBORO COUNTY, S.C. — Authorities say all available first responders have been notified following a dam breach in one South Carolina county in the Peedee region.

According to an "Urgent Community Alert" by the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office, officials have confirmed a dam breach at Lake Paul Wallace. The sheriff's office said the Marlboro County Emergency Management Division and Bennetsville Mayor Leith Fowler corroborated the information.

The department said evacuees should report to Marlboro County High School for shelter, and animals or pets can be taken to 216 Broad Street. The sheriff's office said deputies would provide security at the high school.

"Please keep them in your thoughts as this situation develops," the sheriff's office statement said. Officials also shared a video showing some areas already significantly flooded.
