RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. — The Richland County Sheriff's Department says a father and his missing six-year-old daughter have been found dead.

Officers said Monday afternoon that Michelle Murph and her father, 42-year-old Jason Murph, were discovered in Calhoun County.

Officers said their truck was found around 12 p.m. Monday on Lavender Lane, which is near exit 136 off Interstate 26. Officers said shortly after they found the father's truck, Orangeburg County's K-9 unit found the father and daughter's bodies about 100 yards away.

Officers did not immediately say how the two may have died. Richland County deputies continue to lead the investigation that is still ongoing.

Michelle and Jason Murph had last been heard from Saturday around 8 p.m. near Highway 301 and Calhoun County. The sheriff's department said Jason Murph's wife received a phone call from him around 8 p.m., and based on that, she believed they might have been involved in a car accident and need help.

Investigators ask anyone who may have information relevant to the case to call Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or CrimeSC.com.
