Virginia Beach boy shot in the head will get to leave hospital in time for his 9th birthday

Landyn Davis' mom said he "is working so hard and getting so strong." She added that after he gets out of the hospital, Landyn wants to go to LEGOLAND.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A big update on Landyn Davis, the 8-year-old Virginia Beach boy who was hit by a stray bullet earlier this year.

Landyn's mother says he will be released before Memorial Day weekend, just in time for his ninth birthday.

Emily Rigsby said her son "is working so hard and getting so strong." She added that after he gets out of the hospital, Landyn wants to go to LEGOLAND, which was his "dream" before the shooting.

Landyn was hospitalized on the evening of February 13 after he was struck by a stray bullet while playing video games inside his home on Peele Court. Landyn was placed in a medically induced coma for several days.

Virginia Beach police said four people have been charged so far in connection to the shooting.

If you'd like to donate to help with Landyn's recovery, you can contribute on the family's GoFundMe page.
