SCDOT opens section of Hardscrabble Road Project

Improvements include a new widened four-lane roadway with a two-way turn lane, new drainage under the roadway and a safe, smooth driving surface.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Department of Transportation has fully opened a section of the Hardscrabble Road Project from Marchbank Parkway to Kelly Mill Road. 

This section is approximately 2.3 miles of the project and the improvements include a new widened four-lane roadway with a two-way turn lane, new drainage under the roadway and a safe, smooth driving surface. 

New traffic signals were installed at the intersections at Lake Carolina and Kelly Mill Road.

The project improves approximately 8 miles of Hardscrabble Road. 

At this time, SCDOT says crews are on track to complete the project by Spring of 2025.
