Irmo has a new town council member

Gabriel Penfield won the special election a total of 478 votes. Challenger George Frazier received 148 votes.

IRMO, S.C. — The Town of Irmo has a new council member, according to unofficial results from the Lexington County Board of Voter Registration and Elections.

Gabriel Penfield won the special election a total of 478 votes. Challenger George Frazier received 148 votes. 

In Lexington County, Gabriel Penfield received 179 votes while George Frazier received 63 votes. There was one write-in vote.

In Richland County, Gabriel Penfield received 299 votes. George Frazier received 85 votes. There was one write-in vote.

The council seat was vacated by former council member, now mayor, Bill Danielson. 

Official results will be available until after 1 pm Thursday.
